Onboarding fee
Definition: A one-time charge for setup, data migration, or training when you start. Sometimes waived, sometimes mandatory, sometimes disguised as implementation.
Why it matters when comparing prices
Add the onboarding fee to the year-one total before comparing vendors — a cheaper monthly rate with a steep setup fee often loses. Ask exactly what the fee covers, whether migration help is included, and whether it can be waived; it frequently can be, but only if you ask before signing.
