Price lock and grandfathering
Definition: Grandfathering means existing customers keep their old price when rates rise; a price lock is a contractual guarantee the price will not change for a set period.
Why it matters when comparing prices
Introductory discounts expire, so the price that matters is the renewal price — get it in writing before you sign. Ask whether the vendor has a history of grandfathering existing customers through increases, and treat a first-year quote as a sales tool, not a promise.
